These words of Zelda's were spoken early on in her headstrong, indulged life as the youngest in a family of six children in Montgomery, Alabama-impatient, restless and defiant and as incredibly beautiful as the young man whom she first met when he was stationed in the Army down there. It seems too bad that much of it has not been handled with sharper effect. Milford's long, ladylike and regrettably styleless (she's a very slack writer) story of Zelda which is drawn from a good deal of new material and many hitherto unavailable letters. A rummy married to a crazy""-that was Hemingway's remark about the Fitzgeralds although nothing that incisive nor inelegant appears here in Mrs. ![]()
